That’s 5-straight losses. It has got to turn around soon.

The Philadelphia Flyers have lost 5 games in a row. The team now sits below .500. They are worse than the New York Islanders. The team has had questions surrounding its leadership all week, and although the team’s management says that it’s not an issue, one has to wonder what is going on. This Flyers team was a pre-season favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not one person can actually remember the last time that has happened. This team is 0 for their last 19 on the powerplay. This team has seemingly hit rock bottom. So, there’s nowhere to go but up, right? Right?

The Flyers didn’t play badly tonight. Though, it’s hard to actually play worse than they did the other night against Washington. The stat sheet will make this game look a lot worse than it really was. Officially, the Flyers registered just 16 shots. That’s due to the large role that Montreal’s defense played tonight. Blocking 27 shots is sure to keep any team from putting more than 1-2 goals on the board. Gotta give credit where it’s due. The Flyers inconsistently showed signs of life tonight. For the first period and a half of play, they were clearly the dominant team. They held Montreal to just one shot in 26 minutes of play. The team definitely will definitely benefit from Laviolette’s new systems, but we can’t expect it to happen overnight.

Brian Boucher started in net tonight for the Flyers and played fairly well. Again, the stats won’t show it, but he did play well. There were two goals which can’t be blamed on Boosh, and one blistering one-timer that nobody could have stopped.

I didn’t catch most of the game tonight, so here are the only points I could give. Hopefully tomorrow night will be different and we can finally get WBIO back underway with some very insightful content. Stay tuned. Hopefully we’ll get out of this tomorrow against the Islanders.
