Emery to the Injured Reserve, will miss six weeks.
The Flyers have officially announced that Ray Emery will undergo surgery tomorrow, Wednesday, December 9th, to repair a torn muscle in his lower abdominal wall. According to the Flyers general manager, Paul Holmgren, Emery will miss approximately five to six weeks.
This injury could answer some of the questions surrounding Emery’s less than solid play as of late, so it will be interesting to see if anything further comes from this.
Emery has an 11-8-1 record with a 2.83 GAA.
The Flyers have called up Johan Backlund from the Phantoms to replace Emery as well as David Laliberte, who will play tonight against the Islanders.
TweetThat’s 5-straight losses. It has got to turn around soon.
The Philadelphia Flyers have lost 5 games in a row. The team now sits below .500. They are worse than the New York Islanders. The team has had questions surrounding its leadership all week, and although the team’s management says that it’s not an issue, one has to wonder what is going on. This Flyers team was a pre-season favorite to win the Stanley Cup. Not one person can actually remember the last time that has happened. This team is 0 for their last 19 on the powerplay. This team has seemingly hit rock bottom. So, there’s nowhere to go but up, right? Right?
The Flyers didn’t play badly tonight. Though, it’s hard to actually play worse than they did the other night against Washington. The stat sheet will make this game look a lot worse than it really was. Officially, the Flyers registered just 16 shots. That’s due to the large role that Montreal’s defense played tonight. Blocking 27 shots is sure to keep any team from putting more than 1-2 goals on the board. Gotta give credit where it’s due. The Flyers inconsistently showed signs of life tonight. For the first period and a half of play, they were clearly the dominant team. They held Montreal to just one shot in 26 minutes of play. The team definitely will definitely benefit from Laviolette’s new systems, but we can’t expect it to happen overnight.
Brian Boucher started in net tonight for the Flyers and played fairly well. Again, the stats won’t show it, but he did play well. There were two goals which can’t be blamed on Boosh, and one blistering one-timer that nobody could have stopped.
I didn’t catch most of the game tonight, so here are the only points I could give. Hopefully tomorrow night will be different and we can finally get WBIO back underway with some very insightful content. Stay tuned. Hopefully we’ll get out of this tomorrow against the Islanders.
TweetWeBelieveInOrange is back!
After a short hiatus and lack of any activity whatsoever, WeBelieveInOrange is back and is set to bring you the most up-to-date Flyers news and insight that it can.
Over the course of the next few days, our writers will be looking into the latest Flyers news, including the firing of John Stevens, the team’s recent struggles, and the issues surrounding Mike Richards and the Flyers’ captaincy.
The new design of the site may take a minute or two to get used to, but once you do, we’re certain that you’ll find it helpful and very organized. Below the big featured news box, you’ll see a “Big News” section and a “Game Recaps” section. Here you’ll find breaking news and game recaps, obviously. Below this, you’ll see our “On The Farm” area. Here, you’ll be able to read up on the latest from Adirondack and the Phantoms.
Our biggest excitement for the new design is the featured news section. This will allow us to show you everything that we feel is important, right as you come onto the site. There will be no browsing for the latest important news; it will be right in front of you.
We hope you enjoy the new look and feel of WBIO and we hope more of you stay this time around. In the meantime, if there is anything that you’d like to see added, or even removed, here is the place to speak up! We’re always open to suggestions and only want to make this place a better spot for Flyers fans. Let us know what you think!
GO FLYERS.
